Pitching your manuscript is a key step in getting an agent, an editor, and/or a publisher. Authors who plan to attend Rivers of Ink (August 17 – 18) or the PNWA Conference (September 13 – 16) will have a chance to pitch their books to agents. Practicing your pitch is an important part of your preparation. Wordherders is planning a “Practice Your Pitch” night at our August 13 meeting.

Our friends, Maureen McQuerry, Randy LaBarge, and Steve Wallenfels have agreed to be our panel of pretend agents. You’ll have 4 minutes to pitch your idea and get feedback. Depending on how many authors choose to practice their pitch, you may have time to pitch multiple ideas, or to try again after getting feedback from our fabulous panel. Not ready to pitch your book yet? Come and watch others and learn! And for a little guidance on how to pitch your manuscript, check out the articles linked in the discussion section below.

Do you know other authors who may be ready to pitch? Invite them to come too! No need for them to be regular Wordherders attendees – all are welcome! Also – food permitted – bring dinner! Or popcorn?
