Marketing: What’s Up?

Last year, DeeAnna Galbraith rented a stall at the Richland Farmers Market to sell her books. She was kind enough to point out that if any of the Wordherders are looking to sell books there, the deadline for submitting an application is coming up quickly – March 31, 2019. You can find more information and the application on their webpage at: https://richlandwafarmersmarket.com.

Announcements:

Book piracy alert:

ebook.bike is a book pirating site run by Travis McCrea. An author I follow on twitter posted that her newly released book was posted on his webpage, available for download for free. This is piracy. I checked several of our authors to see if our books were being made available for free. Both Maureen and Steve’s new books are on the site. I encouraged them to contact their publishers about it in the hopes that someone will take legal action to get the site taken down.

To check if your work is being pirated, google: Your Name site:ebook.bike or Your Book Title site:ebook.bike

If your book is being pirated and you have a publisher, let them know and ask if they can or will take action against the site. If you don’t have a publisher, I’m not sure (yet) what can be done. I do *not* recommend you visit the site – each click increases his income. Also, do *not* contact him directly. He has threatened authors who contact him about the site. The page has a form that he says authors can use to have their books removed, but an author who filled it out to have his book removed says that filling out the form just blocks accounts from your IP from seeing the book on the site.

If any of you find that your work is being posted on the site, please let me know. If I learn of any action we can take, I’ll let you know.

Upcoming Events, Conferences and Workshops:

YA Survival Tour

After getting snowed out last month, the YA Survival Tour event at Kennewick Barnes & Noble has been rescheduled for Friday, March 29th at 4:00 pm. If you can’t make it then, the Tour will be coming to Adventures Underground Saturday, March 30th at 6:30 pm. Maureen, Steve, and Mary Cronk Farrell invite you to join them for survival trivia, prizes, stories, and fun!
